Blogspot Blues!!!

Yes, indeed! I think I have the Blogspot blues. Maybe all because I haven't had the opportunity to post in a while. My fault, I know. Just seems like life has been busier than I could imagine over the last few months. It is for this that I apologize and promise that I will attempt to do better with.

Still rejoicing over a great day that we had in the Lord today. 108 in church this morning and then almost 80 back tonight. God is really doing some great things in our midst; and it is for this that I am most thankful. I am so thankful to be a part of such a great church like Fulton FWB.

As Arrows Are..........

YES INDEED!!!!!!! It is about that time of the year again, and I can't wait! I know, I know, I know. Many of you are thinking that I am crazy for having a desire to climb a tree again and attempt to hunt whitetails after I broke my leg in action last year. But I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!

Someone introduced me to a little thing called a "ticker" online the other day. It is a thing that helps you keep track of how long that it actually is until a big event takes place in your life. The person who introduced me to it, had his plugged into the beginning of archery season. And it now is reading less than three months until season starts!

Well, that means that there is work to do. There are always arrows to re-fletch, broadheads to sharpen, strings to wax............but most importantly, practice...........practice.............practice. It is this time of the year that people who hunt will begin to take their bows out of the case and begin to make sure that their equipment is set and then begin to shoot their bows as much as they can. And the reason that they do this.............is so when that big buck, or little doe, or whatever that it is that walks out in front of you, while you are in your stand, that you will be ready!

Well, that brings to mind a conversation that I had this past week with a few friends of mine concerning youth. Several of them were talking about children in their church and how that they were struggling with certain things. Some of the things mentioned were sex before marriage, drugs, drinking, lesbianism and these are just some of the things that scratch the surface. But it brought to mind something of vital importance to me as an adult. And that is how important that our children are. We cannot fathom the things that they face on a daily basis. Many times we will only hear of the struggles and the temptations that they face. And it is because of this that we have a great responsibility.

Responsibility, yes, I know that this is not a word that anyone likes to hear..............but it is indeed something that is a great reality.............to even us as adults. And our responsibility is to teach them and encourage them and love them while we have them. The Bible puts it this way, "As arrows are in the hands of mighty men, so are the children of our youth." So, I want to encourage you to make sure that you spend positive time with children. Because just as important as it is for an archery hunter to make sure that his skills are strengthened and ready..............we must do everything that we can to make sure that our children know that we love them and that God loves them and wants them to succeed spiritually!

Youth Camp

Hey Guys! Bro. Scott here! Yes, that is me up under the blue ICC helmet! I needed it to protect me from 80 children all in the 4th and 5th grade! Just kidding! MAN, WHAT AN AWESOME TIME! We had a great week at camp. We had a wonderful time in every aspect. The fellowship was great, the fun time was great, the preaching was o.k. (I think I can say that, especially since I did it!) But inspite of everything, God blessed! We saw several young people saved. 6 boys got saved Monday night in the dorm.

Let me also say how proud that I am of our young people that went with us. Each and everyone of them represented the Lord and Fulton FWB very well. Dad and Mom you have children that you can be proud of!

Hope you guys have a great rest of the weekend and I can't wait to see you Sunday!

Memorial Day Service

Memorial Day! Some take the time to only look at this as the first official holiday of the summer; but it brings with it so much more! As we took the opportunity to talk about this morning in our service, it not only is a time when we celebrate our national freedom; but also a time when we should celebrate our spiritual freedom as well. For not only do we take the time to remember those who have fallen for our freedom; but we also take the opportunity to remember what the Lord did for us by giving His life as a ransom for the sins of mankind!

I enjoyed our Memorial Day services that we had at Fulton FWB. It was an honor to look at the life of Mary and the great sacrifice that she gave to our Lord with the alabaster box of ointment. I would have loved to have been there that day and to see the exciting things take place. I would have loved to have seen the reaction of the disciples; but also the reaction of our Lord as He rebuked them and then praised Mary.

I also enjoyed beginning our series on the word "Blessed" out of the book of Psalm on Sunday night. I am looking forward to going through and seeing what God has in store for us through these services. I also want to encourage you to be praying for God to lead us in the right direction for Sunday morning throughout this summer. I also want to encourage you to be faithful as well. It is so easy to decide that we are going to travel every weekend and be gone as much as possible; but let me remind you that your home church needs to remain a vital part of your life..............even in the midst of summer.

Fun, Food and Fellowship

Acts 2:42 says, "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." That word "fellowship" comes from the Greek word
"koinōnia" which literally brings with it the meaning "communion with one another". I believe that I can honestly say that this is what took place this past Sunday night at our spring church picnic! We moved from the traditional service to a more laid back setting at the Whitten Center here in Fulton and fellowshipped one with another. And what a time that we had! Good food, good friends and good fellowship!

Let me say "Thank You" to all who brought food and especially to Danny and Jamie for spending the afternoon preparing this wonderful feast! You guys outdid yourselves!

It is times like these that allow our hearts to become closer as a family. So, I want to encourage us to make sure that we fellowship as a church more often. That we take the opportunity to spend time together as a family. Because indeed, it is times like these that strengthen our family even greater than before!

Hey Guys! What a day in the Lord we had this past Sunday! Don't forget to keep your fork! We had a wonderful service both Sunday morning and also back again Sunday night! Nahum 1:7, "The Lord is good, He is my stronghold in my day of trouble and He knows those who trust in Him!"

I am looking forward to this coming Sunday. I feel like we are going to have a great service this coming Sunday morning. I want to encourage you to get out and invite someone to come and be with you and also invite someone to come and be with you at the picnic Sunday afternoon. Let's work really hard to break the 100 mark this Sunday in church!

Good Monday morning to you! It has been a while since I have taken the time to post in my blog, and for that I am truly sorry. Life has just been pretty busy here lately. But, I guess that is no excuse.

I felt like we had a pretty good day yesterday at church. Our attendance was surprisingly good for the weather that we had. We had almost 90 in service yesterday morning. I still want to encourage us to work hard and harder and let's consistently break that 100 mark. I know we can do it!

I also wanted to spend this little moment just letting my church know how much I appreciate them! Without a doubt, the most caring group of people that I have ever had the honor of working with in my life. You guys will never know just how much that you mean to me and my family! I am looking forward to many more great years together!

To God Be The Glory

"To God be the glory, great things he hath done" Those of course, are the words of the beloved hymn, "To God Be The Glory"; but more importantly, those are the words ringing in my heart this morning!

I am so thankful for what God has done in our church and in my heart this past week during our revival services. It just further proves to me that God does hear and answer the prayers of His children! We have been praying for God to do some great and mighty things in our church and I believe that He began those things this past week.

I encourage you to allow these things not to die within your heart; but rather to allow the power of the Holy Spirit to continue to work and move in your life. And I believe that God will allow great things to continue to happen.........if we will just do our part!

Beautiful Lord's Day!

What a great day in the Lord that we experienced today at Fulton FWB Church. The time may have changed; but that didn't hinder the presence of the Lord from being with us in service, both morning and evening.

This morning we took the opportunity to conclude our series on "Building A Bridge To A Stronger Christian Life" by looking at having confidence in God. We preached from Eph. 3:20-21 on how powerful that our God is! It amazes me each and everyday to be able to sit back and see the power of God at work in this world in which we live. But then, how wonderful to know that it is this power that has the ability to work within us!

Tonight we focused on the children. We looked at Matthew chapter 19 and how that the Lord did not rebuke the Children from coming unto Him and how that we ought to be open to our children and reaching our children as well. What a wonderful time in the Lord we had with this.

After service tonight we had a time of activities with our youth. Our teens went bowling and I know that they are having a great time. Probably even having a great time as I type this. As far as the junior age children.........we had an AWESOME time. We started the evening with a big kick ball match..........then on to pizza and then a big hide and seek game with some shooting basketball. I thank God each and every day for our children.........I just ask that you pray for them as they go from time to time in this world in which we live!

Also, please be praying this week for our upcoming revival. Bro. John Gibbs will be coming in from Gastonia, NC sometime Saturday. He will be preaching the morning service on Sunday and then will preach Sunday night through Wednesday. I promise you that you will not be disappointed in this time of revival. Let's just pray that God will continue to burn in our hearts and send the fires of revival to our soul!

Sunday Report

Well, it is Monday morning here on the Nicholson farm and I am rejoicing over a great day yesterday. Just remembering that "This is the day which the Lord hath made; I am going to rejoice and be glad in it!"

I felt like we had a great service yesterday morning. Continued the series on "Building A Bridge To A Stronger Christian Life" Preached yesterday morning on the subject of "Faithfulness" What a privilege that it is to be a "minister" and a "steward" for Christ. What a privilege that it is to know that we serve such a great God!

Last night took the opportunity to preach on the subject of "This Is The Day" reminding us again that "This is the day which the Lord hath made; I am going to rejoice and be glad in it". It is because of this, that we can be reminded that every day that we wake up; the mercies of the Lord are new to us!

Please remember in prayer those having surgery this week.............and also please begin to pray even harder for our upcoming revival.......it will be here in just a few weeks.

Revival

I wanted to take this opportunity to invite all to our spring revival here at Fulton FWB. Our evangelist will be Bro. John Gibbs from Gastonia, NC. Bro. John is a wonderful singer and an anointed preacher of God's word. We are excited about him being with us during this time of revival.

Service times will be Sunday 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Wednesday nights will begin at 7:00 p.m. Again, we want to invite you to come and be a part of this wonderful time of spiritual refrehment.

Great Day!

WOW! I am still rejoicing in the Lord over the day that we had today at church. I really feel like the Lord met with us in both services. Susan and I talked tonight after church about how sweet the spirit of the day was. It is day's like this when it is not hard to feel the presence of the Lord. We had 86 this morning in service and then 54 back tonight. I really appreciate our church and the people who make it up. Again, as I said in an earlier post........God has truly blessed my life by allowing me to be a part of this wonderful congregation.

This morning we continued our sermon series, "Building A Bridge To A Stronger Christian Life" and talked within this series concerning "Getting Specific With Specific Sins". We dealt with the thought of how that one of the greatest things that hinders a Christians walk with the Lord is not dealing specifically with the things that bring us down. How that in order to be that stronger Christian and have a strong Christian life.........we have to be willing to deal specifically with specific sins.

Tonight we continued our sermon series from the Sermon on the Mount. We were in Matthew chapter 5 and we read together verses 20-26 and dealt with anger and the results of anger. We also talked about how that the Lord has given us a road to travel down that can help us to deal with this anger.............and that road is the road of reconciliation. How that when we find ourselves at "odds" with a brother or sister in Christ..........that instead of letting those things fester and build...........we need to deal with them and reconcile that relationship that has been hindered.

Both services were good. Like I said, the Spirit was definitely with us in both services. Makes me hungry and ready for next Sunday. I am also looking forward to our upcoming revival with Bro. John Gibbs. Please pray with us that God would indeed meet with us during these services.

Here is a picture of our wonderful church. Fulton FWB is located in Fulton, Mississippi. We have been privileged to be a part of this wonderful congregation for 7 months and look forward to many more years here in Fulton. God has truly blessed us!

Something New

Well........I know that we discovered the world wide web several years ago. I can remember where I was at the time. I had just bought my first computer, brought it home and set up a "dial-up" internet account. I remember how scared I was........because I thought that everything that I did was going to create a virus in my system. It was because of this that I waded carefully through this mass of humanity called the internet.

Amazing how far that we have come in the last several years. Now, today is another one of those monumental moments.........because it is here that I have finally discovered the "blog spot". I hope to use this to share my thoughts and heart concerning our church. Don't know for sure everything that will be one here; but I will try to keep it fresh and interesting. Will try to post some pictures and event updates as to what is going on at Fulton FWB. Hope you enjoy!
